Cabalgando sobre la luz

Desde nuestro punto de vista terrestre de las cosas, la velocidad de la luz parece increíblemente rápida. Pero tan pronto como se la mire en relación a las vastas distancias del universo, es por desgracia muy lenta. Esta animación ilustra, en tiempo real, el viaje de un fotón de luz emitida desde la superficie del Sol y viajar a través de una porción del sistema solar, desde una perspectiva humana.

Me he tomado libertades con ciertas cosas como la alineación de planetas y asteroides, así como ignorar las leyes de la relatividad respecto a lo que un fotón en realidad "ve" o cómo se experimenta el tiempo a la velocidad de la luz, pero en general me he mantenido la tamaño y distancias de todos los objetos  lo más preciso posible. También decidí terminar la animación un poco más allá de Júpiter, ya que quería mantener la duración de la animación por debajo de una hora.

In our terrestrial view of things, the speed of light seems incredibly fast. But as soon as you view it against the vast distances of the universe, it's unfortunately very slow. This animation illustrates, in realtime, the journey of a photon of light emitted from the surface of the sun and traveling across a portion of the solar system, from a human perspective.

I've taken liberties with certain things like the alignment of planets and asteroids, as well as ignoring the laws of relativity concerning what a photon actually "sees" or how time is experienced at the speed of light, but overall I've kept the size and distances of all the objects as accurate as possible. I also decided to end the animation just past Jupiter as I wanted to keep the running length below an hour.
